First shift...

Sorry for not posting last night.. My sleeping pattern has just been messed up for the passed few days. I went into work at 11pm, went to sleep at 9am. I woke up then at 7pm and went to sleep at 4am... You get the picture. I got to work half hour early expecting a tour of the club as I've never been there before, but when I got there I just got took straight to where I was working and didn't get told what to do. I was on bar support for two bars, by myself. After two hours of that I got told I was on toilet support, this is just stopping people going into the toilets with drinks, half of the people didn't listen to me anyways. Then to top it off.. the worst part of the night, I was working behind the bar with some girl who'd only been working there for two weeks.. no supervisor or anything. There was atleast twenty people at the bar and I had to serve them, I had no previous experience at this point. I took their order and it was cocktails, I had no idea where anything was, I had to ask the other girl and she had no idea either. It was horrible. I had drunk people moaning and I felt like walking out. I finished work then at 4am and watched Wales vs Samoa in the world cup and had free drinks and food. I'm now finding myself thinking about quitting the job. I applied in the summer for a summer job to keep me on my feet with rent and what not, now summer's over and Uni is starting this month I don't need a job, I'll have my loan to cover it.. Plus even if I did stay there for the money I wouldn't be able to cope as my course is 80% practical and early starts, so I couldn't be doing shifts to 5am then getting up at 9am.. I want to quit but I'll feel like i'm being unreasonable.. I just don't see the point in doing something you dislike if there's no need to do it..

What do you guys think I should do? ..

  1. If you don't need it, just quit. Working at night and going to classes early in the morning will F you up pretty bad. You will start doing poorly at school. And your health will get worse too, sleeping that little is really really bad for you.

  2. If it's not your thing, I don't think you should do it. Uni is far more important.

  4. I don't think you could keep up this job and uni, I don't think there would be much shame in quitting over something like that, but your employer might not be too reasonable. But it was kind of dickish for them to leave you with no supervisor.

  5. Hey, read my post about sleeping, and motivation, maybe. Do not forget water. No worries for not posting last night, I've checked and I'm going to keep checking even if you miss two days in a row ;).

  6. This is tough. I'd see if there was a way for you to maintain the job, see if your boss can work something out for you.

Never rely on just a loan ever. It can come back to bite you in the ass in the future.

  7. If you don't need to do it and it makes you miserable, don't do it! Seems pretty straight forward to me..

  9. if you really hate it than quit. There has to be something else for you than messing up your life.

  10. The more you work at a job the easier it gets. After a few more days you may love it! When you feel like walking out, don't! That feeling is easier to egnore the longer you fight it! Working a job you hate and striving to do good at it can build your abilities! You might get better at focusing on things or less likely to complain cause you understand pain better. It's a growing experience and it toughens you up!
Since you don't need the job you can easily leave it once it gets in the way of your schooling but try and keep it till it actually gets in your way!
Remember if you have classes in the morning you can sleep 1pm to 9pm wake up and go to work then take 4am to 8am off as free time and go to school from 8am to noon!

  13. well i dont know if i can be helpfful but bad days always happen in any job and somehow i dont think that was one normal day for your job still by recomendation even if you dont need it to keep extra money is never bad but if you want to quit i suggest you to at least find another job alternative first because even if you say you dont need it by now, who knows what really might happen because many things can change for unpredicted reasons like accidents - assaults - robbery and others well thats all i can say but is just my opinion all depends on what people can tell you and in the end is your own descision to take so good luck with that

i am quite interested in what you will do XD
